About Me

My name is Ebbert Gepner II, and I have a lifetime of drumming experience to offer up in service to your music. I have worked as a professional drummer on a diverse array of musical projects since the age of 16. After years of private lessons and music study at local Arizona Universities, I went immediately in to the professional music realm in the Phoenix, AZ area. In 2001-2003 I worked with a Country band that worked along side two DJ’s at KNIX Radio opening for Country acts on tour and for Country artists doing their radio tours to promote the new album coming out. This would allow me the opportunity to play with artists such as: Tracy Lawrence, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Joe Nichols, Wynonna Judd and Charlie Daniels.

Most importantly, I approach every musical project I am involved in with the utmost professionalism and dedication.

Creativity

What is the music saying? What is needed? I marshall my full creative talents to give a song exactly what it requires. I am completely at home in diverse musical styles ranging from rock and pop to Latin, jazz and country. Familiarity with so many different styles of music allows me to bring fresh ideas to any musical project.

Solid Foundation

When you work with a drummer, you need above all to know that you’ll be supported completely. My approach to percussion accompaniment involves strict attention to providing the undeniable feel, vibe and security to every song.

Mastery of The Tools of The Trade

Different music requires different equipment to fully capture your unique sound. My fluency with all types of percussion equipment both modern and vintage allows me to capture exactly the sound you’re looking for.

Passionate Enjoyment

I firmly believe that the reason any of us got involved in making music was because it brought so much joy and happiness into our lives. Listeners can hear the enjoyment and passion you and I bring to the music we make.  Let’s bring that spirit of joy and passion with our playing in every performance and recording!

Blacksheep Choir

Blacksheep Choir was an original group that started by Leon Santiago, Peter Venti, Darell Colton, and myself in late 1996. The group didn’t get organized till 1997 and then we were off. Leon at the time was looking to create original music that wasn’t typical for this time period. Leon’s only criteria was the music to feel good, thoughtful lyrics, singable melodies. Leon being from Puerto Rico brought in to this group a real heavy rhythmic feel of “World Music” and he had great grasp of harmonic knowledge that allowed us to play music that was mentally challenging and yet spiritually satisfying too. By 1998, BSQ was a 6 piece group that comprised of:

Leon – Lead Vox/el gtr
Peter Venti –  Keys/Vox
Karen Waltuch – Viola
Ted Belledin – Sax/Keys/Vox
Darell Colton – Bass
Ebbert Gepner II – Drums/Perucssion

Jeff Dane

Nashville Country music artist originally from Springfield, MO.
In 2015, Dane went out on his own, turning his attention towards his upcoming solo project with producer, *Dave Tough. “We work really hard to write music that we would want to hear, and we think others will too. We’ve had so much fun writing songs for the upcoming EP, and I’m hopeful the fans will be receptive to the sound and direction we’re heading.” A sound and direction that is clearly influenced by everything from country, rock, pop and funk. Songs such as “L.A. Love Song,” “Loves Cemetery” and the new single, “Apple Pie Moonshine”, show just how effectively Dane and Tough are merging musical elements from multiple genres. “I grew up listening to a lot of country music, but I was definitely a big fan of rock and pop music as well……”

Chuck Hall

Chuck Hall comes from Detroit, MI then later moved to Dallas, TX where he shaped his tone and playing style. After 12 years in Dallas, Chuck moved to Phoenix, AZ to which is still his current residence. Heavily influenced by the likes of BB King, Albert Collins, Hendrix, Freddie King, Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughn. I personally worked with Chuck for about 2 1/2 years playing all around the Phoenix area and various other spots around Arizona. When I first started playing with Chuck I honestly didn’t have a clue how to play a real “shuffle” but I had to learned REAL QUICK the subtitles within various shuffles. Chuck really took me to school and am very grateful for my time with him!

Cuddle Documentary

Plot Summary

Documentary chronicling a unique and revolutionary movement taking place around the world. For years, people have been getting together at cuddle parties, where non-sexual physical touch can be practiced and explored within a safe and innocent setting. In a couple of cities, and most recently, in Madison, Wisconsin, new businesses are opening and facing huge controversy to offer one-on-one snuggling sessions for paying customers… again, in a completely safe and non-sexual environment. In each of these instances, the misconceptions and misunderstandings of others have caused controversy, and have sometimes made it difficult for people to see the benefits that these services and events can provide, and it ends up dealing so much with how we view touch in America and how the lines have blurred between compassion and sex. Can these movements succeed and allow others to see how finding ways to get back to our most basic human needs could actually be a positive step forward for our society? Or will these movements face too much misunderstanding and founder? This new documentary explores it all. Jason first began by covering the return of the Cuddle Party movement in Birmingham, Alabama, interviewing facilitators Tracy and Bryan Gilliom, and a first time Cuddle Party attendee, Kate Donnelly, whose insights and anxiety about attending a cuddle party lend an interesting look into this event that has been around for a number of years.

Dance Accompaniment

Modern Dance

A musician friend asked me to help him create the accompaniment for a modern dance performance a grad student was putting on at Arizona State University. That performance was a huge hit at ASU, and it led to many more opportunities playing percussion and piano as an accompanist for dance classes & performances. In the fall of 2001,
I began working as an accompanist with the dance departments at Arizona State University and Scottsdale Community College. During my time at ASU, I worked with some incredibly gifted dance professors, students and guest performers, Including:

– Bill Evans:  University of New Mexico
– Jennifer Tsukayama: Arizona State University
– Nomalanga “Nomi”: Vanderbilt University
– Kim Karpenty: Kent State
– Brent Schneider: University of Southern California
– Troy Powell: Alvin Ailey
– Cheri McDowell: Chandler/Gilbert Community College
– Mary Fitzgerald: Arizona State University
